A literal mob of admirers is chasing Cyrus through the streets, and Violet eventually, reluctantly, lets him inside. Dante is looking for Camilla, and in turn the three of them head into Auvery for Camilla to pick up her dress for the ball.Īfter getting annoyed with Camilla trying to convince her to be more sociable, Violet waits in the carriage. Wanting to perhaps know more about her strange dreams, Violet goes to the library for some research where she runs into Dante. He looks at her and says “My curse, my ruin.” Violet dreams of fairies leading her through leaves and vines to a body - the prince - alive but pale. She also reveals that the council would prefer to put Lord Fidare (aka Fifi) on the throne over Cyrus.
One lady, Ziza, has another idea - she wants to know who the prince will marry in order to get close to her. Violet wakes to a crowd of ladies waiting for their fortunes to be told, mostly wanting to know if they will catch the eye of the prince.
